FRONTIERS SYSTEM & SOFTWARE
Base System
Frontiers™ offers a proven, modular architecture that consists of a base system and custom designed modules to meet the specific needs of each perioperative care area. The base system includes software that enables to interface with hospital ERP and billing systems.
Used in more than 20 sites
450+ Clinicians currently using Frontiers™
500,000+ cases have been documented using Frontiers™
A leader in clinical acceptance - 100% adoption at each facility
Frontiers' unique tools and system software provides access to data, letting you analyze quality assurance, physical plant throughput, cost containment and clinical credentialing (quarterly verification of required procedure minimums per practitioner), while fulfilling all accreditation requirements and audits set forth by JCAHO and CMS (previously HCFA).
NEW! Physiological Transcription Support: Cross-platform support lets clinicians record physiological data from any Windows®-based charting within the hospital, saving time and a creating a more efficient workflow.
NEW! Real-time billing function: each billable item is captured at each point of care, delivering a legible, itemized and pre-calculated charge to the billing office for enhanced revenue capture and faster processing.
Utilization Mode: This reporting tool graphically depicts how each OR and PACU bay was used on any given day. When used with Frontiers Intra-Op Nursing Record, the "white space" between each case can be broken down into further detail (e.g. clean-up and set-up), giving you unprecedented detail to optimally manage staffing.
Intra-Op Status: This software give you real-time views of information provided in the Utilization Mode. When displayed on an LCD or plasma screen in the OR, the "big board" is available to all, helping decrease turn time.
Pre-Op Status: When paired with a large-scale monitor, this software displays what steps in the pre-operative process are complete, and which ones still need to be done.
Report Writer: Multiple reports allow both administrator and clinician to manage the specific compliance requirements as stated by JCAHO, Medicare and CMS.
User Management
Included with each Frontiers installation is the Biometric Registration software.
User status is completely controlled by the hospital
Create, modify and delete users
New users, such as care providers and administrators are added to the system by registering their fingerprint (optional) and PIN code. All changes associated with the users of the system are completely controlled by the hospital.
The Administrator software allows an individual to manage user accounts and privilege/security levels, assign PINs, and register new user fingerprints. Users can change PIN codes at any time.
Reporting Software
Gain simple, convenient Web access to reports
Provides numerous standard reports
Simplifies data study
Support ad-hoc report writing for optimal data capture
Reporting is one of the key components of any clinical information management system. For this reason, all data elements entered into Frontiers are stored in an Oracle relational database that can be queried upon demand.
Frontiers provides the following three methods of data and information retrieval and reporting to effectively support clinical practice, operations management and academic research.
The standard reporting tool used with Frontiers™ is Crystal Reports Reports are published to the Frontiers™ Web Reporting Tool.
Compliance Manager
The regulations imposed by Medicare, JCAHO, HIPAA and CMS have added clinical documentation requirements that simply did not exist even two years ago.
To help, Frontiers presents the clinician with both visual and textual cues that show at all times what events must be charted to create a complete record.
Highlights required fields (in red) and can be made mandatory before saving and closing the record to ensure 100% compliance
Moves compliance from a retrospective process to the point-of-care (reporting tools included), helping ensure compliance throughout the record
Implements compliance fulfillment processes in a helpful, no-hassle manner
Provides Web access to reports
Drives Practice and Billing rules to the point-of-care
Billing Software
Converting from paper to an automated process is proven to dramatically increase revenue capture and decrease billing cycle time-providing the ROI hospitals are seeking.
NEW! Real-time billing function ensures each billable item is captured at each point of care, delivering a legible, itemized and pre-calculated charge to the billing office for enhanced revenue capture and faster processing.
Increases charge capture and decreases billing cycle time to provide the ROI hospitals are seeking
Provides uniform billing rules across all areas of care
Implements a centralized, consistent business logic and applies it to each case
Easy-to-update business logic is available any time it's required
Includes Post-Processing Microsoft Windows PC application for uniform, valid medical records that are auditable
Handles any of the following billing requirements:
Materials
Pharmacy Charges
Nursing Charges
Professional Billing for the Physician Group
Provides uniform billing rules across care areas
Centralized, consistent business logic
Instead of merely replacing your paper charge sheets with an electronic record, Frontiers derives all billing logic directly from Frontiers clinical entries. Not only does this streamline the coding and billing process, but allows multiple methods to charge for each item.
Additionally, a separate application runs each case through an extensive series of edits and checks. This insures every valid charge item is captured and billed, while eliminating invalid charges item(s). And because a consistent set of logic is applied to each case, charges are uniformly developed from the medical record and are easily auditable.
With easy-to-update forms, menus and billing logic, Frontiers insure no downtime is ever needed. And, once the charges are developed, they can be printed, sent via HL7 or even by email.
Interface Software
Containing a powerful and flexible interface engine, Frontiers provides bi-directional HL7 interfaces to billing/accounts receivable, materials management, pharmacy, registration (ADT) and inventory areas to multiple vendors.
What this means to a hospital is that Frontiers will not be a stand-alone departmental system, but an integral part of the entire organization, sending information that's key to how your hospital conducts business to and from other computer systems, and not just another stand-alone departmental system.
NEW! Physiological Transcription Support with cross-platform technology lets clinicians record physiological data from any Windows®-based charting within the hospital, saving time and a creating a more efficient workflow.
Leverages the value of the entire hospital system to provide the greatest ROI and system usability
HL7 Interface connects Frontiers to existing hospital information systems*
HL7 is an industry standard that provides a mechanism for different computer systems to "talk" to each other
