Cedara Image Enhancement Real Time (Cie RT) is a filter designed for real-time modalities such as fluoroscopy. It combines the outstanding image quality of the Cie toolkit, with the computational power of the Graphics Processing Unit (GPU).
Designed for Real World Application
Designed for the fluoroscopy console, Cie RT enhances 1024x1024 images at 12 or 16 bits in real-time at 30 frame/second, with no cpu utilization. All of the work is off-loaded to the GPU on the graphics card. Therefore, the console can respond to user interaction, and/or transfer images without dropping the frame rate.
Cie RT leverages proven Cie technology developed by Merge OEM. Cie RT is a multi-band filter which suppresses noise and enhances contrast in the anatomical details of the image. The filter can be tailored for each body part and any changes to the settings take effect in real-time.

Leveraging GPU Cost Savings
Cie RT does not require any custom hardware, it runs from an off-the-shelf PC with a modern nVidia or AMD graphics card. In the past few years, GPU speed has increased much faster than CPU speed. At the same time, the cost of a GPU has continually decreased. These trends will continue into the future.
